Frequently Asked Questions:

Is therapy right for me?

For some people, trying therapy is the best way to experience what the process is like.  In essence, therapy works on a variety of personal issues.

How long is therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative approach between the person and their therapist.  Sometimes individuals are in therapy for several weeks while going through a transition in their lives, whereas others may be in therapy for multiple years.

How confidential are therapy sessions?

Therapy is confidential and information disclosed during therapy will not be released without your prior written consent.  However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. Exceptions include:                                                 1. If the client intends to injure themselves or           others                                                                   2. Child or elder abuse/ neglect                         3. Records are subpoenaed by court of law         4. Consultation with the supervising counselor

I tried therapy before and it didn't work.  Why should I try again?

Sometimes clients and the therapist do not connect, its perfectly normal, this is called the therapeutic relationship.  Also, the modality of the therapy in which the therapist uses might make a difference.

I work business hours. Do you see clients non-traditional hours?

Evening and weekend appointments are available in order to accommodate clients who are unable to attend sessions during traditional business hours.
